The Intergovernmental Committee of Iberarchivos – ADAI Programme (Support for the Development of Ibero-American Archives) will hold its XVIII Meeting this year, which will take place in Santo Domingo (Dominican Republic) on 27-28 June 2016.

The ADAI programme is a cooperation and integration initiative of Ibero-American countries articulated and ratified by the Ibero-American Summits of Heads of State and Government, for the promotion of access, organisation, description, conservation and dissemination of documentary heritage, which contributes decisively to the consolidation of the Ibero-American Cultural Space.

The main objective of the programme is to encourage ties of solidarity, strengthen the capacities of professionals and promote Ibero-American archives of all types, from the General Archives of the Nation to Municipal Archives, including the archives of human rights institutions and indigenous peoples, among others.

Through annual calls for applications, the programme, in addition to granting aid to archival projects, promoting access to the region’s archives and culture by Ibero-American citizens, also ensures administrative transparency and the exercise of fundamental rights, which are the essential basis for the promotion of development.

The Programme is structured through an Intergovernmental Committee that meets annually and defines the policy and strategic lines of the Programme, as well as being responsible for the annual approval of projects in accordance with the Operating Regulations of Iberarchivos-Programa ADAI.

During this XVIII Iberarchivos – ADAI meeting, the topics to be discussed will be the following:

  • Election of the new President
  • Definition of the Programme’s strategic lines
  • Approval of budgets
  • Approval of the projects presented in the previous year’s call (2015 call).
  • Approval of the bases for the 2016 call for proposals.
