#Iberarchives wants to celebrate 9 June “International Archives Day” with the entire archival community. To do so, we want to commemorate this great date with the International Archives Week #IAW2022. For this year the International Council on Archives (ICA), has selected the theme #WeAreArchives.
Iberarchivos has always been committed to the memory of Ibero-America. For the programme, it is essential to support the empowerment of archives and promote archival culture throughout the territory of the 18 member countries, which is why Iberarchivos has been doing so throughout its 23 years of creation through its archival projects that allow networking and collaboration to help achieve better development of archives in Ibero-America.
As every year since its creation in 2008, the International Archives Day proposed by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) aims to emphasize the importance of archives as part of cultural heritage as well as one of the main sources of information. Archives provide significant evidence for the economic, political, social and cultural development of humankind.
In Iberarchivos #SomosArchivo as demonstrated by the 1,374 projects that have been co-funded, which promote goals and objectives for the archival profession and institutions through support that translates into the preservation of the memory of Ibero-America, They also make visible the important work that archiving represents in all sectors for and on behalf of citizens, which leads us to strengthen accountability and transparency, through access to information to monitor the work done by governments and ensure that citizens can protect their rights.
We at the programme would like to invite you to reflect on the importance of archives and the people who make it possible for heritage to be preserved on a daily basis throughout Ibero-America.
Remember that Iberarchivos is committed to the memory of the Ibero-American peoples, which is why it is essential to strengthen ties of solidarity and collaboration to continue empowering archives.
