World Day for Audiovisual Heritage (27 October)
Iberarchivos is celebrating #WorldAudiovisualHeritageDay and we invite you to join this great commemoration.
World Day for Audiovisual Heritage is commemorated every 27 October, as a mechanism to raise public awareness of the need for urgent action and recognition of the importance of audiovisual documents, through the Recommendation for the Safeguarding and Preservation of Moving Images.
Audiovisual archives tell stories about the lives of people and cultures around the world. They represent an invaluable heritage and an affirmation of our collective memory, as well as a valuable source of knowledge, as they reflect the cultural, social and linguistic diversity of our communities (UNESCO). https://es.unesco.org/commemorations/worldaudiovisualday
Iberarchivos wishes to highlight the important role of all audiovisual materials such as: sound recordings, radio, film, television, video, digital or other productions that include moving images and/or sound recordings, whether or not they are directed, or any visual element that leaves a mark on history and allows important moments to be contextualised for future generations.
Audiovisual documents are faithful witnesses of history and can be used to investigate the different cultural manifestations of the societies that preceded us.
That is why today we at Iberarchivos would like to recognise and present some of the audiovisual materials that have been worked on in the Programme’s projects. We have selected different works that have a focus or axis that preserves history, memory, culture and identity through audiovisual materials:
2019/027 Enhancement of audiovisual documents of the Instituto Superior Pedagógico Santo Toribio de Modrovejo of the city of Chiclayo for dissemination on social networks: the project aimed to show the history of the university through the dissemination of 57 videos to be shown on the YouTube channel of the Institution. The audio-visual collection relates historical and academic events, daily and social activities of the Institute, as well as cooperation activities. The chronology of the videos goes from 1983 to 1998, the year in which the Universidad Católica Santo Toribio de Mogrovejo (USAT) was created.

2015/032 The audiovisual memory of Antioquia, a key component to understand the reality of the region and evolve to a peaceful society: The audiovisual records of the events of the region contain information that allows to contextualise the reality of Antioquia and the country to account for the arduous road that has been travelled and that can lead to peace and post-conflict. Teleantioquia seeks to project the history of the region and to recover the historical memory in order to have elements for a greater understanding of the reality that allows the development of a civilised and peaceful society.
