The Iberarchivos cooperation programme congratulates Javier Gómez Jiménez on his recent appointment as Director of the National Archives of Costa Rica.

Gómez Jiménez is a historian and archivist with a degree in Business Administration with emphasis on Information Management and Services. He is also vice-president of the National Commission for the Selection and Disposal of Documents, president of the Description Commission of the National Archive and is a member of the Commission for Legal Reforms.

Until now, he was head of the Historical Archives Department of the National Archives.

In addition, he will assume the functions on the Executive Committee of Iberarchivos, a body that facilitates the smooth running of the Programme and which is made up of three members elected from among the members of the Intergovernmental Council. Currently, Argentina, represented by Mr. Pablo Antonio Fontdevila, and Peru, represented by Mr. Jorge Ortiz Sotelo, also form part of this Committee.
