At Iberarchivos, we are kicking off Women’s Week by joining UN Women’s celebrations, which this year are framed around the theme: “Women Leaders: For an Equal Future in the World of Covid-19″.

Importantly, women are at the frontline of the Covid-19 crisis as health workers, caregivers, innovators and community organisers. They are also among the most exemplary and effective national leaders in the fight against the pandemic. The crisis has highlighted both the critical importance of women’s contributions and the disproportionate burdens they bear.

In this regard, we would like to share that Iberarchivos was selected by the Ibero-American General Secretariat (SEGIB) in the call “Ibero-American Programmes, Initiatives and Projects in the face of COVID 19″ with the project ” In the skin of our ancestors. Pedagogical resources for the knowledge of the fight against historical pandemics through archives and lessons for children in Ibero-America in the face of COVID-19″. The project will be treated with a positive, inclusive and multicultural approach, highlighting the gender approach, as we want to highlight the notorious role of women in the fight against these diseases.

On 8 March, we invite you to celebrate International Women’s Day with us in a virtual meeting with the participation of those responsible for two archival projects focused on great women and framed within the action line “Promoting the gender perspective”. This line seeks to support projects that incorporate measures to reduce inequality between men and women, strengthen women’s capacities, make their contribution to society visible or projects presented by women’s rights institutions.

We will discuss the development of the projects:

  • “Political Struggle of Colombian Women in the 20th Century” by Verónica Posada Galindo Project Coordinator of Fundación Cinex de Colombia.
    International Women's Day (8 March)

2019-012_01 Selection of the Project’s Film Material

    .

  • “Catalogue of documentary sources on Dominican women. Siglos XVII-XVIII” with Aquiles Castro – Project Coordinator of the AGN of the Dominican Republic.International Women's Day (8 March)

With this virtual event focused on International Women’s Day, we at Iberachivos want those responsible to share with the archival community the development of the project, the objectives and results obtained and how, thanks to their development, access to the collections is facilitated, the women who marked the steps of history are recognised and honoured, and women are made visible in the present day.

Iberarchivos ✍️ invites you to participate in this event virtually, you can follow it on Ibearchivos Facebooklive at 10:00 am Colombian time, 11 am Dominican Republic time and 4:00 pm Madrid time, Spain.

Remember that throughout the week we will be publishing different projects focused on the gender perspective as this #WomensWeek we join the celebrations of #WomensDay.
