The Iberarchivos cooperation programme congratulates Alberto Umpiérrez on his recent appointment as Director of the General Archive of the Nation of Uruguay. Umpiérrez holds a degree in Management and Administration from ORT University. He holds a Master’s degree in History from the University of Montevideo and is a researcher in regional history with emphasis on Uruguay-Argentina border issues.
The new director of AGN Uruguay has extensive experience in cultural management of cross-border regional integration in the Rio de la Plata basin, with more than 36 years of activity in the field. He was an advisor to the Directorate of Border Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uruguay.
He was also coordinator and advisor in matters of cross-border cultural-educational integration of the Binational Committee of Mayors of the Uruguay River Waterway. He has worked as a teacher and trainer with more than 80 publications of his own and more than 70 conferences presented in the countries of the region. He also has extensive experience in project design and evaluation, management and analysis.
