The XXII Meeting of the Intergovernmental Council of the Iberarchives Programme was held on 18 and 19 February 2020. The National Archival Authorities of the countries adhered to the Programme participated, as well as Enrique Vargas from SEGIB Ibero-American General Secretariat, Diego Mayoral from the Spanish Agency of International Cooperation for Development AECID and Carmen Marcos representative of the Organization of Ibero-American States OEI, as well as Cristina Díaz, as Technical Secretary of Iberarchivos.
During this meeting, the new president of the Intergovernmental Council, Silvestre Almeida Lacerda, who is currently the Director General of Books, Archives and Libraries of Portugal, was appointed.
The representatives of the National General Archives of Argentina and Peru continue as members of the Executive Committee of the Programme, and Alexander Barquero, Director of the National Archives of Costa Rica, was appointed as a new member of this Committee at the Seville meeting.
Those attending the meeting made a significant farewell gesture to recognise the work and commitment of Alicia Casas, Director of the General Archive of the Nation of Uruguay, who concluded her functions as President of the Intergovernmental Council of Iberarchivos.
Among the most important activities of the meeting, 37 archival projects were approved for the XXI call of 2019, which will receive funding for their implementation and which can be consulted here.
Another of the highlights was the approval of the 2020 Annual Operational Plan, framed in the 2019-2021 Strategic Plan, which will govern the actions of Iberarchivos.
The 22nd Meeting of the Intergovernmental Council of Iberarchivos was an open forum, full of important contributions on archival matters, which allowed for closer ties of solidarity for the promotion and dissemination of the documentary heritage of Ibero-America.
