The Liga Protectora de Estudiantes de Santiago, founded in 1872, is a non-profit association whose aim is to “protect young people who lack the resources to educate themselves”. During its 143 years of existence, this association has managed to grant more than 10,000 scholarships to underprivileged young people who, on many occasions, have turned out to be outstanding students, making a substantial contribution to the social, cultural and historical life of Chile.
